The Prophet Yeshayah speaks about the profound qualities of Moshiach: “The spirit of G-d shall rest upon him, a spirit of wisdom and understanding, a spirit of counsel and might."

The literal meaning of the word Moshiach is “the anointed one.” As with the appointment of King David, his ancestor, by the Prophet Shmuel, G-d will anoint a Jewish leader to lead us into the era of Redemption.

The Navi tells about the absolute peace that will reign in the world when Moshiach comes, affecting even the animal kingdom - “the wolf will lie with the lamb”. The root cause of this phenomenon will be the overwhelming “knowledge of Hashem” permeating every corner of the universe. Therein lies the key to attaining peace at all levels, even before its ultimate version in the era of Moshiach: introducing G-dliness elevates the factions at odds and can automatically dissolve the divisions.

One of the marvelous developments of the future era, the prophet Yeshayah foretells in the Haftara, is the ingathering of all Jews from across the entire world to Israel, a process called “kibutz galuyos—the gathering of exiles”. This promise, that Hashem will gather the Jews by hand, one by one, is also a mandate to each of us. In this Festival of the Future, participants will learn and be inspired by the Rebbe’s message to be ambassadors in reaching every single Jew and preparing them for Moshiach.

In the first few pessukim of the Haftara, we read the stirring words in which Hashem tells King Chizkiyah that he has nothing to be afraid of, for Hashem’s salvation could come in a blink of an eye. And sure enough, it did. We, too, have nothing to fear. Though the world around us can give cause for all sorts of anxious feelings, we ought to remember this simple fact: Moshiach can come in the blink of an eye so there’s truly nothing to be concerned about. You can find an oasis of calm in your life, right now.
